Apple plans to introduce “dramatic changes” to an unnamed Mac model alongside an upgrade to the M4 chip, reports Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman in the latest Power On edition.
While details remain slim, changes could see Apple present a hardware redesign for at least one Mac model with the M4 chip, with the entire Mac lineup in line for an upgrade with the new processor over the next 12 months. A possible candidate for the redesign could be the Mac mini, which has maintained the same industrial appearance since 2010 and was last updated in January 2023 with the M2 and M2 Pro chips.
Beyond a design change, Apple is on track to begin upgrading the entire Mac lineup to the M4 chip starting later this year and spanning 2025. This will begin with the iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini before the end of 2024. The MacBook Air, Mac Pro, and Mac Studio will see similar upgrades next year.

This will be the first time that all Mac models are uniformly upgraded to a single Apple silicon generation. In addition to efficiency and performance enhancement, the M4 chip upgrade will boost Apple Intelligence performance on the Mac, with some AI features already rolling out to developers to test on the macOS Sequoia 15.1 beta.
