Samsung Display and LG Display have reportedly ramped up mass production of OLED panels designated for the iPhone 16 lineup, according to a new ET News report.
Both companies are estimated to collectively supply over 120 million OLED display units for the iPhone 16 series before the end of this year as Apple is said to target a sales figure of 90 million units for its upcoming iPhone lineup. Trial production for the displays began in June, before significantly ramping up to the point of mass production last month.
Samsung will fulfill the vast majority of iPhone 16 display orders, accounting for 80 million units in 2024 and over 60 percent of the supply for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. On the other hand, LG is set to handle the production of around 43 million screen units, an increase of 10 million units compared to its iPhone 15 supply last year. BOE remains on the fence as it continues to struggle with Apple’s stringent quality assurance requirements.
