Apple could soon add a new feature to the iPhone that would show how much time is left for the battery to charge while plugged in, according to hidden iOS 18.2 code discovered and analyzed by 9to5Mac.
The code, discovered in the recent iOS 18.2 beta 2, is part of a new “BatteryIntelligence” framework that calculates the time left for the battery to recharge based on the amount of power being fed into the device while plugged in. There will also be an option to be notified once the iPhone reaches a designated battery percentage as selected by users.
However, 9to5Mac warns that the feature remains in the early stages of development and is not necessarily set to launch with iOS 18.2 in December.

In recent years, Apple has taken many steps to allow users to better manage and monitor their iPhone’s battery health. For example, the iPhone 15 lineup became the first generation to be rated for 1,000 battery cycles while maintaining a minimum battery health of 80 percent. The device also includes information about the battery’s cycle count, manufacture date, and first use in the Settings app.
iOS 18 includes more battery management tools for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 lineups. Users can limit maximum charging to 80, 85, 90, 95, or 100 percent for maximum flexibility.
