iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will include software options to customize sensitivity settings for its rumored array of capacitive solid-state buttons. That’s according to the anonymous tipster who unveiled deeper details around the buttons’ mechanism earlier this week.
The new comment implies that the buttons “will work very well with gloves and cases if designed correctly, as there’s a sensitivity toggle”. The potential toggle would be similar to the iPhone 7’s Home button click settings in iOS 10. Users were able to select one of three levels of haptic feedback via Taptic Engine when the button was pressed.
The rumor also dispels concerns regarding how cases would work with the new implementation. Observers noted that case makers could simply opt to leave cutouts open around the devices’ power and volume buttons akin to the mute switch. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case (pun intended) anymore following the source’s revelation.

Apple is widely expected to announce its iPhone 15 lineup during the usual early September timeframe. So far, the iPhone 15 Pro is rumored to include a new titanium chassis with a new deep red finish, solid-state volume and power buttons with haptic feedback from additional Taptic Engines, a new 3-nanometer A17 Bionic chip, increased 8GB of RAM, and a periscope lens for increased optical zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
