A bipartisan Congress delegation is set to privately meet a select number of senior Silicon Valley and Hollywood executives to discuss strategy pertaining to China, according to a new Axios report.
The report states that tech and entertainment entities are “increasingly caught up in escalating tensions between the U.S. and China over intellectual property and trade issues”. The bipartisan delegation is led by Rep. Mike Gallagher and includes 10 other congresspersons, adds the report.
The talks are set to be proactive in nature, as one source told Axios that “We also need to think about offensive and how do we out-compete”. Artificial intelligence is set to be an important discussion point among the involved parties. The talks are also set to be mostly informal in nature with “no legislative agenda”, at least initially.
