Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro are finally coming to iPad; however, for the first time, they will be a monthly subscription-only service from Apple starting May 23.
Apple has finally released access to their pro apps on iPad, but this may come as a surprise to many consumers as the apps mentioned above are only available as a subscription on iPad, as opposed to one-time purchases for their Mac counterparts.

Final Cut Pro introduces an all-new touch interface on iPad, including the magnetic timeline, a jog wheel, and multi-touch gestures. Apple’s new Live Drawing feature allows users to draw and write directly on top of video using Apple Pencil. On M2 iPad Pro models, Apple Pencil hover enables users to quickly scrub through footage without touching the screen. Users with the iPad Pro 12.9″ with Liquid HDR display can also use the color-accurate display in Reference Mode.
Pro camera mode allows video creators on iPad to shoot in high-quality portrait or landscape video mode, with complete control of focus, exposure, white balance, monitoring audio, and Multicam video editing with just the touch of a finger.
Machine learning enables fast cutting, scene removal, and auto-cropping for different aspect ratios.
Logic Pro for iPad
Logic brings the all-in-one creativity of the iPad to a professional space, with multi-touch gestures to pinch and zoom through the most complex of projects. Apple says built-in mics on iPad Pro can turn virtually any room into a studio.
An all-new sound browser adds filter options so musicians can compose whenever they feel the inspiration, with access to all the instrument patches, plug-ins, samples, and loops you could need.
Producers have all the tools they’ll need to chop and slip samples, and the new Beat Breaker time and the pitch-morphing plug-in will allow creators to swipe and pinch to reshape sounds. Apple’s Pro Mixer gives everything needed for users to create a professional mix on iPad, including channel strips, volume faders, pan controls, sends, and precise automation.
Logic Pro also supports roundtrip capabilities, so it’s easy to move projects between the Mac and iPad or import GarageBand projects. Music creators can also export their projects to Final Cut Pro for iPad.
Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro both arrive in Apple’s App Store on May 23 at $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year, requiring a minimum M1 chip for Final Cut Pro or A12X for Logic Pro.
