- Apple is adapting iPad apps for the new headset
- Users will be "able to access millions of existing apps"
- Apple will bring its most popular apps to the headset
Apple is reportedly preparing versions of FaceTime, Pages, Numbers, Books, TV, Freeform, and other apps to offer compatibility with its mixed-reality headset, which the company plans to launch in June. Bloomberg published the details about these apps in an extensive report about the headset.
The FaceTime version for the mixed-reality would create 3D representations of users in virtual rooms, providing an immersive experience as if they were together in the same physical location. Freeform, a relatively new app launched last year, would allow users to use virtual whiteboards collaboratively and simultaneously.
Apple’s productive suite, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote —previously known as iWork—would have a version for the headset. However, the report does not mention any functionality that would benefit of the new product. Fitness+ would also have a new version where users can exercise while watching their instructor in virtual reality.
The TV app will allow users to watch videos in different virtual environments, offering an immersive experience. Native applications such as Calendar, Contacts, Files, Maps, Notes, Photos, and others will be similar to the their iPadOS counterparts.
Apple is also preparing a wellness application for the headset to display relaxing graphics and play calming sounds with voice-overs. Additionally, Apple is preparing a Camera app, though little is known about how it will work. The headset will also be compatible with mixed-reality versions of GarageBand, Books, and iMovie, says Bloomberg.
The Cupertino-based company hasn’t said anything official about this headset. However, the Bloomberg report says that Apple will launch the Reality Pro headset in June, during WWDC. The report states that the headset will sell for $3,000.
