The next-generation iPhone SE appears to be the biggest upgrade to Apple’s most affordable iPhone since its original launch in 2016, judging by a set of new rumors that outlines what to expect with the refreshed model.
According to @URedditor on X, the iPhone SE 4 will finally adopt a modern all-display design that Apple first introduced with the iPhone X in 2017, letting go of the home button and chunky top and bottom bezels. Its design will more closely resemble that of the iPhone 14, indicating that the iPhone SE 4 will come with flat edges in addition to the smaller notch housing the TrueDepth camera.
The iPhone 14-based design will allow the iPhone SE 4 to pack in Face ID for the first time ever, as all previous and current models are equipped with Touch ID. Apple will also switch out Lightning in favor of a USB-C port, a move that is also expected to take place in the upcoming iPhone 15 lineup. The iPhone SE 4 camera system will still be limited to one rear camera, which will likely see a considerable improvement in the form of sensor and lens upgrades.

One of the biggest changes on the iPhone SE 4 could b the inclusion of the Action Button which is set to exclusively be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The Action Button is set to replace the current mute switch on the iPhone 15 Pro models and is rumored to act as a shortcuts button to quickly trigger certain actions or launch apps.
iPhone SE 4 Release Date
Development of the iPhone SE 4 could be ramping up, as it was rumored earlier that Apple is in the process of procuring OLED display panels from Chinese display makers. It still remains to be seen when the iPhone SE 4 will go on sale, as conflicting reports point out to either a Spring 2024 or 2025 release date.
