Apple is planning to add new health features to its next-generation Apple Watch, including blood pressure and sleep apnea detection. The company is also working on turning AirPods into over-the-counter hearing aids solution according to Bloomberg.

Blood pressure detection

The new blood pressure sensor in the next Apple Watch will be able to detect when your blood pressure is elevated. It won’t be able to show you your exact systolic and diastolic measurements yet, but Apple is working on a follow-up version for later that could.

This is significant as high blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke. By being able to detect high blood pressure early, the Apple Watch could help help diagnose more serious conditions earlier on.

Sleep apnea detection

Sleep apnea is a condition in which your breathing stops and starts repeatedly during sleep. It can cause a number of health problems, including fatigue, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

An upcoming Apple Watch model set to be released in 2024 will be able to monitor your sleeping and breathing habits to predict if you have sleep apnea. If it detects that you may have sleep apnea, it will recommend that you follow up with a doctor.

AirPods as hearing aids

Apple is working on new features to turn AirPods into over-the-counter hearing aids. This would make it much easier and more affordable for people with hearing loss to get the help they need.

Apple is also developing a new feature that will be available for users to test their hearing. This would help people identify hearing loss early on, so they can take steps to protect their hearing and get the help they need.

New paid health coaching service

Apple continues to work on a new digital, paid health coaching service as reported earlier. This service would use artificial intelligence and data from user devices to craft individualized workout and eating plans for customers.

Anti-anxiety and workout features for Vision Pro

Apple is exploring anti-anxiety and workout features for its upcoming Vision Pro headset. According to a previous report from The Information, the company is working on features that could diagnose and treat some mental health conditions like stress and depression

Apple has shown an interest in incorporating health-focused elements into its products. The upcoming features for the 2024 Apple Watch and AirPods mark an initial step, and it’s possible that we may witness further health-related innovations from Apple in the future.
