Apple is planning to launch the highly anticipated Vision Pro headset in early 2024, and Apple’s retail stores are preparing for what is described as a unique and complex rollout according to Bloomberg.
Apple has started scheduling seminars and is planning to fly in select employees from each US store to Cupertino for intensive Vision Pro training. These “train the trainers” sessions will start in mid-January, and will equip staff with the knowledge and skills to assist customers with the headset’s setup, usage, and troubleshooting.
Unlike other Apple devices, Vision Pro will require a precise fit for optimal comfort and performance. In-store staff will be trained to help each customer achieve a comfortable and personalized fit, ensuring a positive user experience.

While online reservations will be available, Apple will encourage customers to pick up their Vision Pro headsets at a physical Apple Store location. This allows for dedicated staff assistance with setup and ensures a smooth transition into the world of AR and VR.
To prepare for the influx of prospective Vision Pro customers, Apple retail stores are set to soon receive new equipment specifically designed to assemble and package the company’s first spatial computer. Additionally, the initial launch will be limited to the US, with appointments required for purchase. Apple is already planning to expand Vision Pro’s availability to other countries by the end of 2024.
Apple has only publicly announced an “early 2024” release window for Vision Pro with a starting price tag of $3,499, with today’s report suggesting a launch date as early as mid-January if everything goes to plan. However, unexpected circumstances could push the release back to March or even later.
While the first generation of the Vision Pro is gearing up for release, Apple’s engineers are already hard at work on the future of the mixed-reality headset line. Reports indicate that a more affordable model, alongside as many as three other future models, is in active development. Apple is likely to release the second-generation Vision Pro models in 2026 or later.
