Apple is preparing to announce the OLED iPad Pro alongside an overhauled iPad Air lineup and revamped during the first full week of May, reports Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman in this week’s edition of the Power On newsletter.

Per the report, The slew of new iPad models is expected to arrive during the week of Monday, May 6. The company is likely to reveal the much-awaited OLED iPad Pro and iPad Air lineups in a press release, much like it did with the M3 MacBook Air lineup nearly a week ago. Another detail leading credibility to an announcement happening that week is Apple Store locations are preparing to receive new marketing material later during the same week. As we exclusively reported before, this is usually a sign that a product announcement is imminent as was the case with the M3 MacBook Air.

Apple originally planned to launch the OLED iPad Pro sometime in March or April, but the company was forced to delay the announcement over manufacturing difficulties pertaining to the new OLED panels. These panels incorporate many new technologies, including a dual-stack tandem design, that has so far proven difficult for Apple’s supply chain partners to supply at an adequate yield. However, these panels don’t come cheap, and Apple will likely pass on the cost to consumers as the report reiterates that the OLED iPad Pro will likely start at a higher price point than the current $799 of the 11-inch model.

The report reiterates new features expected for the OLED iPad Pro as well as the iPad Air, which is said to offer a new 12.9-inch display size for the first time. The new iPad Air lineup will reportedly be based on the M2 chip and continue to use conventional LCD panels. On the other hand, the iPad Pro is expected to gain next-generation OLED displays with brighter and more vibrant colors while also gaining the M3 chip powering the latest MacBook generations. The new iPad Pro could also feature a landscape Face ID camera and a much thinner design.

Apple will also upgrade key accessories alongside the OLED iPad Pro. The Apple Pencil will receive its first revamp in several years that could include Find My support and magnetic replaceable tips. The Magic Keyboard is also said to receive a key upgrade that could make the iPad Pro appear more laptop-like when docked.
