Apple Vision Pro appears to be entering a period of prolonged development for future models and renewed focus on sales amid faltering demand. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple plans to introduce the second-generation Vision Pro by the end of 2026 as work continues on a more affordable model.
Over the weekend, Mark Gurman indicated a significant delay for the second-generation Vision Pro. Based on the report, Apple’s current roadmap lacks plans for a substantial hardware upgrade until late 2026. This extends upon his earlier prediction of an 18-month wait from the February 2024 launch, pushing a potential release from mid-2025 to the end of 2026.
Apple’s struggle to introduce a more affordable Vision Pro headset appears to be the result of the company’s grappling with cost-reduction strategies. This aligns with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s prediction in February, suggesting significant hardware upgrades might not see mass production before 2027.

Kuo posits a potential iterative update in late 2025 or early 2026, primarily focused on cost optimization and production improvements. However, he believes this iteration might not offer a demonstrably different user experience compared to the current model. Potentially, these changes might not warrant a public announcement beyond a potential price adjustment.
Despite the delayed upgrade, Apple reportedly plans to expand Vision Pro availability to additional countries before its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference that kicks off on June 10. China and France are potential target markets, possibly seeing the device launch as early as May 2024.
