Apple was previously rumored to be introducing a display smaller than 6.7 inches for the iPhone Plus beginning with the iPhone 17 lineup next year. Today, a rumor from analyst Jeff Pu indicated that this device is likely to be named “iPhone 17 Slim” and would carry a 6.6-inch display. Now, reliable displays analyst Ross Young has chimed in on the rumor, claiming to know the exact measurement of the purported iPhone 17 Slim display.

In a new subscribers-only post on X, Young claims that the iPhone 17 Slim will carry a 6.55-inch OLED display, coming in slightly smaller than the 6.7-inch display on the current iPhone 15 Plus and expected to be reused on the iPhone 16 Plus later this year. If true, Apple is hoping to further differentiate the iPhone 17 Slim from the more premium iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is expected to come with a 6.9-inch display.

Young was the first to claim that the iPhone 17 Plus will feature a smaller display than its predecessors. Pu today has claimed that the device’s display will measure around 6.6 inches. Now, Young has elaborated on his earlier claims with the exact size of the new display, though it remains to be seen whether Apple will round up or round down the display’s size when marketing the iPhone 17 Slim.

Apple is looking to shake up the display sizes it offers on the iPhone in coming years, with the first of these changes likely to happen with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. As rumored before, the company is looking to increase the display size with this year’s iPhone devices from 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch to 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch respectively. While Young expects the base iPhone 17 to reuse the iPhone 16 Pro’s 6.3-inch display next year, Pu is adamant that the device will continue to feature a 6.1-inch panel just like previous and current base iPhone generations.

Other rumored changes heading for the iPhone 17 Slim include a new design for its aluminum housing, 8GB of RAM, a new A18 or A19 chip, and a 24-megapixel front-facing camera. Apple is also said to be planning a more comprehensive set of on-device AI features across the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
