Apple is set to unveil its upcoming iPhone 15 lineup in around two months’ time, and a recent rumor claims that the company is preparing an array of new colors for the base iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
The rumor is courtesy of reliable Twitter leaker ShrimpApplePro quoting a person claiming to be an employee at Foxconn. The alleged Foxconn employee took to Chinese microblogging website Weibo to proclaim that Apple is preparing three new colors for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus could be available in the following finishes, with the new colors in bold:
- Midnight
- Starlight
- Green
- Yellow
- Pink
- (PRODUCT)RED
This is in comparison with the current iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus which come in these colors:
- Midnight
- Starlight
- Blue
- Purple
- Yellow
- (PRODUCT)RED
If the rumor proves correct, the base iPhone 15 lineup will reintroduce new shades including pink and green which are absent from the current iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, and were present on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. Previous rumors indicated that Apple was working on new light blue and magenta-like pink shades for the iPhone 15, but the company may have ultimately dropped the blue finish it was working on.
iPhone 15 specs
Apple is expected to expand Dynamic Island, first introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro last year, to all models of the 2023 iPhone lineup. The company is also rumored to replace the Lightning port with USB-C across the entire lineup to comply with EU laws, in addition to expanding the 48MP main camera sensor to the non-Pro iPhone 15 models.
On the other hand, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will introduce several exclusive features, including a periscope zoom lens on iPhone 15 Pro Max, significantly thinner bezels, a new titanium chassis with subtly curved edges to replace stainless steel, Action Button in lieu of the mute switch, and next-generation 3nm A17 Bionic chip.
