Apple plans to launch the Image Playground and Genmoji Apple Intelligence features as part of the iOS 18.2 update in December, according to a new report from Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.
In the latest weekly edition of the Power On newsletter, Gurman claims that the image generation features of Apple Intelligence were originally set to launch in iOS 18.1 in October. However, Apple decided to push back those features as they needed more work. This includes features like Image Playground, which generates images based on users’ text descriptions in one of three distinct styles, and Genmoji, which creates custom emojis on the spot beyond what’s possible with the default emoji keyboard.
Another image generation feature of the Apple Intelligence suite is the Magic Wand, which lets users turn rough sketches into high-quality drawings in apps like Notes. Some image-related Apple Intelligence capabilities are already available in the iOS 18.1 beta, including Clean Up, which lets users remove unwanted objects in the background of the selected image.

Features in testing include Writing Tools, notifications summaries, Smart Reply, natural language search in Photos, and Reduce Interruptions Focus mode.
Other highly-anticipated Apple Intelligence features, like the redesigned Siri with on-screen awareness, personal context understanding, and precise app controls, are not set to launch until spring next year with iOS 18.4.
