Greg “Joz” Joswiak

Greg Joswiak, born in October 1963, is Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. Known by the nickname “Joz,” he’s one of the company’s most long-tenured executives having joined Apple in June 1986. Joz was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1986.

Joz joined Apple immediately after graduating, where he quickly cemented himself as an important personality within the company. His early responsibilities included supporting and liaising with third-party developers in the Mac’s early days and working on several of the first Mac computers shortly after the original model’s introduction in 1984.

Nearly a decade after joining Apple, Joz began climbing the company’s corporate ladder as he assumed responsibility for marketing the PowerBook laptop line in 1997. Joz became head of iPod marketing in time for the device’s launch in 2001, and again with the first iPhone in 2007. His vision and intuition have become instrumental in a device’s success, particularly in its first days.

In 2016, Joz was named Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, handling the product management and advertising efforts for Apple’s entire product lineup. Not only that, but Joz also manages the marketing of Apple’s latest subscription services, including the likes of Apple TV+ and Apple Music. Joz and his teams are mainly responsible for shaping Apple’s marketing strategies and product launches, painting the company’s image as a leading innovator in the consumer electronics space.

Joz was named Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing in 2020, taking over from Phil Schiller who became an Apple Fellow. As the company’s most senior marketing executive, Joz has become a regular appearance at many of Apple’s keynotes, handling the unveiling of the latest iPhone Pro lineup every September.

As head of Apple’s marketing, Joz is one of the company’s most publicly-facing executives, even if he keeps a low profile for his personal life. In addition to his keynote appearances, Joz makes time for interviews throughout the year, particularly with YouTube personalities.
