Quick Hits
  • iPhone 14 display shipments grew 2% compared to iPhone 13 YoY
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max contributed 36% of all display shipments
  • iPhone 14 Plus display shipments up 59% compared to iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone display shipments set to fall 23% in April

iPhone 14 Pro Max accounted for more than a third of all iPhone 14 shipments to date, according to supply data concerning display shipments analyzed by Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC).

The report compares display shipments for the iPhone 14 lineup with that of the iPhone 13 series over an 11-month period. The iPhone 14 lineup reported a slight 2% increase in year-over-year display shipments over the iPhone 13 between June 2022 and April 2023. The growth is attributed to strong Pro iPhone sales, whereas iPhone 14 and 14 Plus shipments continue to lag behind.

iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max continue to dominate iPhone 14 lineup shipments, with both devices collectively contributing a share 63% compared to 53% for the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. iPhone 14 Pro Max was responsible for 36% of iPhone 14 display shipments, followed by the iPhone 14 Pro at 28%. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus stood at 25% and 11%, respectively.

It is not all doom and gloom for the iPhone 14 Plus, however, as the report points out that display shipments for the 6.7 inch device vastly outperformed those of the iPhone 13 mini – up 59% compared to display shipments of the 5.4 inch device during the reported year-over-year period.

Despite this, display shipments for Apple’s newest iPhone lineup is set to drop 23% in April compared to March, and 39% compared to iPhone 13 display shipments in the same period a year ago. The report blames the anticipated drop on “broader issues of overall industry inventory corrections, continued macroeconomic headwinds, inflationary pressures and softening demand.”
