WWDC 2023 is a few days away, and the keynote is shaping up to be one of Apple’s most important keynotes in recent memory. Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman teased the keynote’s significance and length, calling it “one of Apple’s longest ever.”
Gurman outlined his predictions for WWDC 2023 announcements in a new tweet, where he anticipated that Apple will focus on three segments in its keynote next Monday. The keynote will “easily exceed two hours,” adds Gurman, and will be one of the longest keynotes to date.
The company is expected to announce “several new Macs,” likely including a 15-inch MacBook Air. Gurman earlier broke the news that Apple will begin accepting trade-ins of the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro models with the M2 chip in addition to the Mac Studio next Monday, which is a good indication that an Apple silicon-equipped Mac Pro might finally make its public appearance next week.

Major software releases will also be a focal point of WWDC, adds Gurman, where Apple is expected to announce iOS 17, macOS 14, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and tvOS 17. Gurman earlier reported several new features planned for iOS 17, including a new lock screen interface for a smart home display-like functionality, Wallet and Health apps updates, and major enhancements for SharePlay and AirPlay. The Apple Watch user experience will be radically revamped with watchOS 10, as reported by Gurman, where the new software is expected to include widgets and a revamp of first-party apps.
Apple’s mixed-reality headset and its accompanying “xrOS” software platform will be the star of the show. The headset is expected to feature glass, aluminum, and carbon fiber in a ski goggles-like design, two 4K micro-OLED displays, an iris scanner for biometric authentication, dual M2-based chips, an external battery pack, and an advanced eye and hand-tracking system powered by a dozen cameras. The headset’s “xrOS” software platform is said to feature a home screen similar to that of the iPhone and iPad with a customizable grid of apps and widgets and a suite of 3D iPad-based apps, including FaceTime, Fitness, Meditation, Freeform, TV, and more.
WWDC 2023 will kick off at 10 a.m. PDT on Monday, June 5, at Apple Park in a live-streamed prerecorded event. New betas of announced software will be available a few minutes after the keynote is over before shipping to all eligible devices in the fall.
