Highlights
  • "Wonderlust" to take place on September 12 at 10 AM PT
  • Apple expected to announce iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 to also be revealed

Apple today just announced that it will hold a “Wonderlust” special event on September 12 at 10 AM Pacific Time to reveal its next-generation iPhone 15 lineup and more. As has been the case with previous iPhone events, “Wonderlust” is scheduled to take place at the Steve Jobs Theater, situated on the premises of Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

Apple is expected to announce four new iPhone models at “Wonderlust” as part of the iPhone 15 lineup including the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The company could also reveal refreshed Apple Watch models including Apple Watch Series 9 and second-generation Apple Watch Ultra.

“Wonderlust” is expected to encompass a pre-recorded video keynote with a selection of media members invited to attend and watch the video presentation at Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park. Media attendees will also get a chance for some hands-on time with newly announced products after the conclusion of the event. Below is a breakdown of all the new products Apple is expected to show off at its September event.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus

Apple’s lower-end iPhone 15 offerings will retain the same 6.1 and 6.7-inch sizes as their iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus predecessors. Apple is expected to phase out the display notch in favor of pill-shaped and hole-punch cutouts, enabling the Dynamic Island like the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Other features include a 48-megapixel main camera with a stacked sensor design, USB-C port to replace Lightning, A16 Bionic chip, and a new refined design with slightly curved borders and a refreshed color palette.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to receive the bulk of new features making their way to the iPhone for the first time Look out for a new titanium chassis with subtly curved edges to replace the current flat-sided stainless steel frame, impossibly thin display bezels, Thunderbolt-enabled USB-C port, new “Action Button” to replace the mute switch, next-generation 3nm A17 Bionic chip, and a periscope zoom lens with up to 5-6x optical zoom exclusively on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Other quality-of-life enhancements may include Wi-Fi 6E, upgraded Ulta-wideband “U2” chip, new maximum storage configuration of 2TB, and 8GB of RAM.

Apple Watch Series 9

Apple is set to continue the iterative nature of hardware upgrades for its smartwatch in recent years with the Apple Watch Series 9. The headlining feature is expected to be an all-new S9 system-in-package processor with significant CPU performance and battery efficiency upgrades.

Apple Watch Ultra 2

The rugged Apple Watch Ultra made its debut last year, boasting outdoor fitness-centric features such as a bigger flat display, robust titanium housing, dual-frequency GPS, and double the battery life of any other Apple Watch.

Rumors have been quiet on what to expect from an upgraded Apple Watch Ultra, but the company has been rumored to be working on a new black finish to compliment the current silver color, in addition to new 3D-printed mechanical parts made from titanium.
