Apple plans to produce a very limited initial stock of Vision Pro ahead of the headset’s anticipated market launch on February 2, according to new insight shared by famed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a new post on X, Kuo claims that Apple will muster between 60,000 and 80,000 Vision Pro units before its planned launch early in February. As a result, the initial stock is expected to sell out very quickly due to strong demand caused by “the base of core fans and heavy users.” Kuo also warns that Apple has yet to define the “product positioning and key applications” for Vision Pro, which might hamper its demand going into the future. Apple is reportedly aiming to sell no less than a million Vision Pro units during the first 12 months of its market release as revealed in an earlier December report.
Kuo mostly reiterates his earlier claims from last week in which he expected the preliminary Vision Pro stock to sell out soon after pre-orders go live on January 19. In all cases, the product line is not expected to take off sales-wise until the arrival of the second-generation Vision Pro and lower-cost headset a few years down the line, which Kuo says the development of these two products will heavily depend on the demand of the first generation headset.

The company also ought to reveal more details surrounding Vision Pro before its launch if it wants to generate further hype, Kuo said earlier. So far, Apple has only revealed that the $3,499 headset comes with 256GB of storage and includes several accessories in the retail box like the Solo Knit Band, Dual Loop Band, Light Seal, two Light Seal Cushions, and a front cover. The company also revealed additional battery life and pricing details for the ZEISS Optical Inserts.
Customers will be able to pre-order Vision Pro starting from Friday, January 19, at 5 a.m. PST. Sales will begin two weeks later on Friday, February 2 on Apple.com and all Apple Store locations in the United States.
