Apple earlier this week announced that Vision Pro will be available to purchase from February 2, and famed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has weighed in on what to expect demand-wise from the company’s first spatial computer.
In a new Medium post, Kuo expects the early demand for Vision Pro to be quite robust thanks to “Apple’s core fans and heavy users” with initial stock expected to sell out fast as soon as pre-orders open on January 19. Shipping time is expected to slip quickly, but Apple may struggle to maintain that momentum going into the future.
Apple will need to come up with convincing use cases and “key applications” to maintain strong sales for Vision Pro after the initial hype wears off, warns Kuo. In all cases, the product line is not expected to take off sales-wise until the arrival of the second-generation Vision Pro and lower-cost headset a few years down the line, which Kuo says the development of these two products will heavily depend on the demand of the first generation headset.

The company also ought to reveal more details surrounding Vision Pro before its launch if it wants to generate further hype, adds Kuo. So far, Apple has only revealed that the $3,499 headset comes with 256GB of storage and includes several accessories in the retail box like the Solo Knit Band, Dual Loop Band, Light Seal, two Light Seal Cushions, and a front cover. The company also revealed additional battery life and pricing details for the ZEISS Optical Inserts.
Customers will be able to pre-order Vision Pro starting from Friday, January 19, at 5 a.m. PST. Sales will begin two weeks later on Friday, February 2 on Apple.com and all Apple Store locations in the United States.
