Apple has ramped up its iPhone production in India during its last fiscal year, assembling devices worth $14 billion in a new record high. This move highlights the company’s ongoing effort to diversify its manufacturing away from China, according to a report from Bloomberg.

Last year, Bloomberg reported that Apple had tripled iPhone production in India to almost 7 percent of its global iPhone supply. Today’s news shows that the figure has doubled, with Apple now manufacturing about 1 in 7 of its iPhones (or nearly 14 percent) in the country.

The news of Apple’s interest in diversifying its manufacturing locations comes after years of the iPhone being almost exclusively assembled in China. While reports have been documenting the company’s intention to move some of its manufacturing to India for many years, China remains by far the largest manufacturer of iPhones. While the standard iPhone models are now being manufactured in India, the Pro series is currently only being manufactured in China.

Apple joins other companies in ramping up production of their products in India. Joining the likes of Tesla and Google, the company has been showing a huge interest in the country over the past few years. Foxconn who have long worked with Apple on manufacturing their products even announced a $1.5 billion investment in India late last year. Manufacturing in India will likely expand over the next few years, and allow more companies including Apple to diversify away from purely relying on China.
