Apple is preparing to launch several new Mac laptops and desktops in the coming months and early 2024. The new Macs include an all-new 15-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, refreshed 24-inch iMac, the first Mac Pro with Apple silicon, and more. The news comes according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter.

Gurman expects some new laptops to be announced at this year’s WWDC taking place in June. However, the new machines might not debut with the next-generation M3 chip. Instead, the laptops will “run something in line with the current M2 processor”, adds Gurman.

Moving on to the Mac, Apple has several new models in the works: a 15-inch MacBook Air, an updated 13-inch MacBook Air, an entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro, a refreshed 24-inch iMac, the first Mac Pro with in-house chips and updated high-end MacBook Pro models. All of these should go on sale either this year or in early 2024.

At least some of the new laptops will be announced at WWDC, I’ve been told. But there’s a big caveat: The models coming in June probably won’t boast major new M3 chips. Instead, they’ll run something in line with the current M2 processors.

Developer logs indicate that Apple is testing the 15-inch MacBook Air with the identifier “Mac 15,3”, with the machine boosting the same resolution as the 14-inch MacBook Pro and similar specs to the current M2 chip.

Beyond 2023, Apple is also working on a refresh for its 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, adds Gurman. The machines should feature beefed-up versions of the M3 chip – M3 Pro and M3 Max – and are scheduled to be announced in early 2024.

On the software side, Apple is expected to announce a new round of major software releases. These include iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, watchOS 10, and tvOS 10. The company also seems ready to finally announce its oft-rumored “Reality PRo” AR/VR headset with its own “xrOS” software platform.
